Livingstone's Missionary Travels

Including a Sketch of Sixteen Years' Residence in the Interior of Africa
by David Livingstone,
illustrated with 44 engraved drawings, and 3 large, fold-out maps (2 maps by J. Arrowsmith)
Published by Harper and Brothers, New York, USA, 1858,
First American Edition ("Harper and Brothers" and "1858" stated on Title Page), 1858,
Hardcover Book, 26 preface pages + 755 text pages + 4 Publisher's ads pages = 785 total pages,
This is an antique, 1858, book by David Livingstone (1813 -- 1873).  He was a Scottish physician, Congregationalist, and pioneer Christian missionary with the London Missionary Society, an explorer in Africa, and avid, anti-slavery spokesman.
The book has 47 illustrations, including 3 fold-out maps.  One map is a section-view of land-elevation-heights across South Central Africa. The other 2 are dated 1857, with the name of J. Arrowsmith printed.   They are 1) a map of South Africa and 2) a map of Livingstone's Route.
This is the First American Edition, which was published by Harper and Brothers in New York, in 1858.  It has sharp illustrations.
The book is solid and very legible: a fascinating, vintage, 1858 book.  The publisher was a well-known US book publisher.
See pics above for actual book.
Good Condition
Covers are somewhat faded and edge-worn (esp. at outer-spine-edges; see pics), both endpapers have many math-calculations written in pencil by former owners (see pics), Frontispiece portrait and Title Page are foxed (see pics; but they are the only significantly foxed pages in the whole book), Arrowsmith's Maps are dated 1857 w/ J. Arrowsmith's name, and are fully intact, but they have a few tiny tears and creases; otherwise, book is well-bound, tight with strong hinges, solid, with printed text that is quite clean and very well-illustrated with 44 sharp engravings and 3 large, fold-out maps ]
26 preface pages + 755 text pages + 4 Publisher's ads pages = 785 total pages, Oversized: approx. 9.5" x 6.75" x 2.5",  brown embossed cloth covers, gilded titles, gilded top edge, canary-yellow endpapers,
